I took this mountain photo a few years ago, and there’s obviously nothing incredibly special about it. It was at a local pumpkin patch and I was searching for the perfect pumpkin – so it was mid October. And yes, I’m one of those people (with no children) who will never grow up and still loves carving pumpkins and baking the seeds, the whole gamut. So anyways, when I took this picture, there was a plethora of pumpkins scattered on the ground. However instead of looking downward, I found myself more drawn to looking up at the gorgeous tree and the endless blue sky.

Oddly enough, this thought reminds me of so many recent conversations that I’ve had about the economic downturn in our nation today, with all the sudden job loss situations and home losses etc. So many talented, intelligent, and truly good people are working twice as hard and just hoping they will have some semblance of job security and make it through this recession with their professional lives in tact. I can certainly relate from my own experience. So what do we do? How do we move forward and remain positive through these tough economic times? I recently saw a comedian on television the other evening where he was talking about how some CEO’s would rather die than live like the rest of us….can you imagine such drastically narrow thinking? I can’t imagine missing those simplest of pleasures like walking through a pumpkin patch on a gorgeous fall day. We just have to keep in mind that our circumstances will always get better, …always. In fact, there’s a fantastic quote that I heard from the movie Vanilla Sky, that says, "Everyday is another opportunity to turn it all around." It’s true, every moment is our opportunity to look up and not down. Open our eyes to the endless possibilities of our unique futures, and apply our passions and hopes and dreams. It can be a challenging time, as change is never an easy process for anyone, no matter whom we are or where we come from. Looking up always inspires and brings to me a certain peace, serenity and hope. So if there are only two words that I find for inspiration they are simply … look up!

I took this picture a few years ago, and there 's course, nothing incredibly special.
